week seven — sanibel sunset
there weren’t a whole lot of clear sunrises and sunsets on the florida vacation. given that the temperature pretty much hovered between 70 and 80 the whole time, i can’t really complain, but it would have been nice to have a few more moments like this one.
i’m a sucker for good sunrises and sunsets, and that’s one of the things that i miss most about my last apartment. i was on the northwest corner of the seventeenth floor of an apartment complex that had an unobstructed view of the lake. since i moved, i haven’t made it a point to get out and see the beginnings and ends of the day, and i’ve no doubt missed quite a few beautiful views (and photo opportunities) as a result. one of my mom’s new years resolutions is to see more sunrises and sunsets, and i think i’m going to adopt that resolution as well. there’s something about the light at those times of day that encourages reflection and enhances perspective…
A quote from Malcolm Gladwell’s book "Outliers""There is an ancient Chinese saying, according to which a person who wakes up before sunrise 360 days a year can not fail in providing for wealth to his family"
