December, 2019

December was busy! In addition to my normal everyday shots, I went on a road trip throughout eastern Colorado and western Nebraska, shared the holidays with all my extended family for the first time in several years, and bought a house. I’m still trying to catch my breath and get caught up, which is why I’ve been behind in posting these shots (and have been slacking on posting anything else).

As for the photos themselves, I’m really happy with how they turned out. The bulk of this month’s shots are from my road trip. I was feeling mentally overwhelmed at the time, so the vast emptiness of the plains combined a lack of any obligations other than simply enjoying life was exactly what I needed. I really enjoyed taking my time while making these images, and I think that enjoyment comes through in the results.

Interestingly, nearly all of my shots from this month were made with either a 40mm or 50mm equivalent focal length. I shot with the 35mm f/2 on my X-T2 (50mm equivalent) and the 50mm f/3.5 on my GFX 50R (40mm equivalent) almost exclusively. I don’t know what to make of that, but I seem to be drawn to that focal length range lately for some reason.
