around the world in 80 months
I’m starting to make the plans for my spring 2015 trip to Iceland and the Faroe Islands, and the excitement of doing so got me thinking about my more long-term travel plans: What do I want to accomplish with my travels? What places do I absolutely have to visit? What type of cultures do I especially want to be exposed to?
After a few minutes of pondering, I realized that there’s a lot of world to see and I should probably get started seeing it sooner than later. Inspired by the title of Verne’s classic and the the fact that my 30th birthday is roughly 80 months away, I decided to set a goal for myself: travel to a special destination in Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Europe, North America, and South America over the next 80 months.
I’m far from having a final list of places I want to go, but below are some of the ideas I’ve come up with so far…feel free to let me know which of the following I just can’t miss!

One of my favorites since childhood!! Love this Idea of 80 days of travel, and I love your list. I have two suggestions: Hallstatt, Austria and the Amazon Jungle 🙂
Good luck, and happy birthday (how many days left? 🙂

Thanks! I hadn’t heard of Hallstatt, so I just did some quick Googling…it looks gorgeous! That one’s definitely going on the list! 🙂
I have about four and a half years left and I’m two continents down…still have some “work” left to do!

Me neither, it is one of those places you get to know once you are there. My sister lives in Vienna and the city is not too far from it. I will be there this coming spring 🙂 Good luck with your “work”

Add Tibet! One of the most fascinating and unique places I’ve been. If that’s too difficult, then Nepal … just do something to see the Himalayas!
