It’s been too long since I posted a sunrise image. It’s been too long since I saw a sunrise, honestly. I used to get up really early – like 4am early – nearly every day, and while that lifestyle has its social limitations it did give me the opportunity to see a lot of sunrises. I really miss that. It feels so rewarding to have already started your day, whether that’s sitting at your work desk or standing behind your tripod, by the time the pre-dawn glow starts.

When I was in Chicago, I’d get up early to beat the traffic. Then when I lived in Colorado, I’d (sometimes) get up early to watch/photograph a sunrise over the reservoir or the plains before starting work. I’ve hardly seen any sunrises in Omaha, though (aside from what I can see from my office window, which doesn’t really count). I’m hopeful I can get back to my early morning ways in Milwaukee, where I’ll have the sun rising over the lake as a motivation to crawl out of bed at 4am…
